Join us for a swinging evening of retro tunes with The Das/Matt/Wharton/Naragon Jazz Quartet! Local artist Dave Watt will live paint during the program!
based in Pittsburgh, PA, this quartet performs music that is close to their hearts. Each member has been influenced by many genres of music… and it shows. As a collective, they draw from classic jazz, pop, funk and even high-energy fusion music. In addition, this performance will feature original works by Rick Matt and Eli Naragon.
Subha Das – drums: a professional percussionist/music educator in Pittsburgh, PA. Das has built a very successful career for himself, being one of the most in-demand percussionists and private instructors in the Pittsburgh area. In 1998, he joined the staff of the award-winning Mount Lebanon Percussion program, where he holds the title of Principal Assistant Director.
Randraiz Wharton – piano: is a well-known Pittsburgh jazz, soul, and R&B keyboardist who is known for his technical mastery and creativity.
Eli Naragon – bass: is a local bassists, arranger, teacher, and composer highly active in the Pittsburgh jazz scene.
Rick Matt – saxophones/flute: is a top freelance saxophonist/woodwind specialist who resides in the Pittsburgh area. In addition to leading his own band and projects, he can be found performing as a sideman with a variety of bands and ensembles throughout the region.
David Watt is a self-taught artist and designer born and raised in Pittsburgh. His work is a constantly-changing exploration of instinct and an ever-evolving conversation with self. This leads his abstractions through unexpected territories, often unfolding hidden meanings as they materialize. @davewattrules
