David Throckmorton and Space Exchange (U.S.)
Sunday, November 19, 2017 @ 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.(2 hrs. approximate run time)
Join us for an evening of jazz with David Throckmorton and Space Exchange as they play the music of Ornette Coleman.
Pulitzer Prize-winning saxophonist and composer Ornette Coleman spearheaded the “free jazz” movement of the 60s, coining the term itself on his 1961 album. Though this concert celebrates Coleman’s contribution to the evolution of the art form by exploring some of his greatest and lesser known works.
This concert is a very rare occasion to hear Coleman’s landmark and still ground-breaking music played live. It is not to be missed!
Space Exchange — a group that derives its name from Pittsburgh’s space sharing jazz series — features Ben Opie (alto sax), Chris Parker (guitar), Paul Thompson (bass), and David Throckmorton on drums.
Featured Musicians:
Ben Opie – alto saxophone
Chris Parker – guitar
Paul Thompson – bass
David Throckmorton – drums
