Freedom to Create GalaFriday, September 6, 2019 @ 7:00pm - 10:00pm
Help us celebrate the freedom to create by attending our annual fundraising gala!
Each year in September we gather in Alphabet City to honor an international writer or artist who has overcome efforts to limit their creative freedom. This year we will honor Iranian singer and songwriter Mahsah Vahdat, a renowned world music performer and vocal advocate for freedom of expression for musicans and composers. Mahsa left her native Iran because of the restrictions placed on female performers by the Iranian government.
Following a cocktail reception and dinner from our restaurant partner Brugge on North, Mahsa will be joined on stage by author and poet Sholeh Wolpé for a short reading and conversation, and by harpist Bridget Kibbey for a musical performance.
Tickets for this event are $500, and can be purchased online using the link above. Free valet parking is included with your ticket. We hope you’ll join us for this special evening of music, conversation, and community.
