Join us for an evening of jazz with Patrick Breiner’s Double Double!
Patrick Breiner’s band Double Double features original compositions written for 2 upright bassists, tenor saxophone, and percussion. They will play pieces from their release Mileage in addition to newer long-form compositions written to highlight and juxtapose groove and openness.
Patrick Breiner is a saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer living in Pittsburgh, PA. He is widely sought after as a unique and energetic instrumentalist and improvisor. Patrick operates Sulde Records and leads several projects including Vartan Mamigonian (solo saxophone), Naiad (Pittsburgh jazz quartet), and Double Double.
George Heid III began playing drums at the age of 3. He grew up in his father’s recording studio in Aspinwall, PA where he was influenced by many music masters. Now George leads his own ensembles that have performed and toured extensively across the USA and in China at various venues and festivals.
Adam Hopkins is a bassist, composer, educator, born and raised in Baltimore, MD. He has extensive experience performing jazz, improvised music and has played with professional orchestras in Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and the DC metro area. His debut album CRICKETS has received international acclaim from a variety of sources, most notably ranking as the #2 Debut Album in the 2018 NPR Jazz Critics Poll.
Ava Lintz grew up in Morgantown, WV in family of musicians. She currently lives in Pittsburgh where she works in various venues throughout the city. After studying bass with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony, she began playing assistant principal bass for the Akron Symphony. She has also subbed with regional orchestras including the Erie Philharmonic, Canton Symphony, and Youngstown Symphony.
