Graciela Bonnet was born in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1958. She is a publisher, editor, and poet, and holds a degree in Spanish literature from the Central University of Venezuela. Graciela is the author of the book of poems “En caso de que todo falle” (In Case All Fails, Eclepsidra, 1997) and “Libretas doradas, lápices de carbón” (Golden Notebooks, Charcoal Pencils, Editorial Lector Cómplice, 2013). In 2000 she participated in the meeting of Women Poets in Cereté, Colombia. She lives in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with husband and COA writer-in-residence Israel Centeno.
Tuhin Das is a poet. He was born and raised in Barisal, Bangladesh. His life as a writer began as a primary school student when he would write children’s poems and send them for publishing in newspapers. Now, he is the author of seven poetry books in his native language (Bengali). Besides poetry he has been writing stories for young readers as well. Tuhin Das is now a writer-in-residence of City of Asylum in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Opera Improv is a fun and engaging experience for children and adults to learn how opera can tell an everyday story through singing. Opera teaching artists ask the audience to vote on musical excerpts and then the singers create an opera on the spot, singing the dialog in English and the songs in foreign languages.
